What Investors Can Expect in 2020 According to The Senior Vice President of Nasdaq’s Corporate Services

In this coming episode, Jeff Thomas speaks on his predictions of what investors should expect in 2020.

Jeff states: “So I think as you kind of lookout at 2020, we talked about how the one sure thing is that we’re probably going to see more volatility this year and the other thing is we are now almost 12 years into a bull market; so everybody keeps wondering when the other shoe is going to drop; when we’re going to see a correction. Markets operate in cycles and so whether it’s this year or the next year or the year after that; we have never seen a bull market last this long and unfortunately the other thing we know is that the longer a bull market goes the harder the crash.”

As bull markets last only 4.5 years on average, this bull market of 10+ years has lasted longer than any previous bull market before and this has been attributed to tech stocks. As tech stocks are on the rise; the addition of 5G to upcoming phone releases with cellular companies such as Verizon may contribute to this bull market trend. Verizon states that they will release 20 5G phones in 2020 as the other major networks also have plans to roll out 5G phones as well; the technology sector, especially with the semiconductors used with 5G is rising. According to a Bank of America report the market for 5G semiconductors will grow to nearly $19 billion by 2022, up from $593 million last year.

With these technology companies on the rise, the market may continue at least for now to rise as well; but according to experts will eventually hit its peak in the next one to three years.
